Patchwork Christmas

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  Best day of the week tomorrow as it is the end of my working week.  Pity there are only two days to a weekend lol.  We are busy at work at the moment as a few people are still off on their summer holidays.  By the time I get home and get sorted there is not much time left for crafting, boo hoo.

I did manage to finish work a bit earlier today so scurried off up to my crafty room when I got home to have a little play.  I decided to have a go at creating a patchwork background using the Sizziz Bigz Hexagon die.  I saw this done on Monday by Crafty Lou when I went to a demo day at Sir Stampalot.

The card base was made using the Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities Grand Labels One.  I then cut out a red mat from coredinations.  For the hexagon pattern I cut out loads of hexagons in different papers using the Sizziz Bigz hexagon die.  Crafty Lou showed us how to create the patchwork by sticking the hexagons to double sided sticky paper.  You can then cut out the shape you want and then just peel off the backing and stick it to your card.  I did add some faux stitching around all the hexagons.  For the topper I used one that I got from The Hobby House.  I think she looks so cute.  This was matted onto another die cut and I added some red stickles around the edge.  The final embellishments I used were some ribbon and a bow and some dazzles from The Hobby House.  The little christmas tree is a topper that I have had for a couple of years.

Thanks for popping by and hope you like my christmas creation.  Look our for more coming along as I really enjoyed making this.

Embellishment Heaven at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well and your week is going okay (whatever you are doing).

Another week has quickly flown by and it's time for a new challenge to start over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges.  Our theme for this week is a bit of a recipe one.

Use 3 different embellishments from the following - ribbon, lace, eyelets, brads, card candi, charms, flowers, feathers, buttons, gems and pearls

We have two fab sponsors joining us this week:
Sassy Studio - prize of 4 digi images to the winner
QKR Stampede - prize of 5 digi images to the winner

The design team were lucky enough to be able to use images from our sponsors for their inspiration project.  I used this cute image from QKR Stampede to create a little christmas card.

I coloured the cute penguin image in promarkers before cutting out.  For the background card I used a printed card from Imagination Crafts called snowflake.  It was just perfect for this image.  I added a couple of little cut out trees that were in my stash.  I also had these cute brads with little snowflakes on that I added to each corner.  Some ribbon and gems finished the card.
My three items that I used were ribbon, gems and brads.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your entries.  Just pop over to Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges to upload your entry and check out the inspiration from the rest of the design team.

Santa and Sleigh

Hi Folks
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.  Here in the UK it is a bank holiday weekend so an extra day off work tomorrow, yippee.  We have had a lovely quiet day here today but got my mum and mother-in-law coming for dinner tomorrow.

Today's card is a christmas card I have made using Imagination Crafts products.  I decided to have a go at making an acetate dome card.

I used the Santa and Sleigh stencil with Black Stars Sparkle Medium on acetate.  Left this to dry while I prepared the base.  I used the snowflake pre patterned card matted onto coredinations cardstock.  To add a bit more interest and to try and create a little scene I added some silver christmas tree peel offs and a little snowman topper.  The sentiment is also a peel off.
When the sparkle medium was dry on the acetate I cut it to size ensuring that it was wider than I needed.  I then scored either side in order to be able to wrap the acetate around the card base.  I made sure that I scored it about a centimetre wider than I needed to create the dome effect.

Hopefully you can see the dome effect on the next photograph.

Really pleased with how this turned out.  Something a bit different but not too difficult to do.

Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you think.

Technology Rules

Hi Folks
Well it's a bit wet and dreary here at the moment so I think a crafty day is called for.  Got a few DT cards to work on and waiting for some new crafty goodies to arrive.  Hope they get here today and then I can have a play lol.

I wanted to share this card with you today that I made for my sister to give my nephew for his birthday.

I knew I wanted to do something with computers etc on it so this was a case of raiding my stash for the appropriate embellishments.  I finally found some in a magazine from a couple of years ago.  I used the sketch from Sketch N Stash challenge as the starting point for this card.  I did add the ribbons down each side as it looked a little bare without.  I can say that all the items on this card are at least 6 months old.  Boy did it feel good using up some old stash.

Thanks for popping by and hope you all have a good weekend.

I would like to enter the following challenges:
Sketch N Stash - use sketch and stash (all old stash)
ABC - Lots of layers
Inky Impressions - Masculine
Crafty Ribbons - Anything goes with ribbon

The Robots Have It

Hi Folks
Just popping in before I head out to work.  Thank goodness it is Friday and a three day weekend beckons.  I do love bank holidays.  I say we should have one every week lol.

I wanted to share this fun little card that I made for my nephew's birthday.  This was for my daughter's to give to him.

This card was made using a stamp set that I have had for a good 12 months and never used.  It is from TPC Studio and called Blips and Bleeps.  You get these cute robot images and then lots of words (blip, bleep, zip etc) and various little cog images.  Here's how I did it.
1.  Create a background using white card and distress inks.  I used spiced marmalade and mustard seed.
2.  Stamp onto the distressed card using the words and cog stamps. Add some stitching around the edges and mount onto blue coredinations.
3.  For the robot images stamp onto white card, heat emboss with clear embossing powder and then cut them out before distressing with the same distress inks.  Stitching was again added around the edges.  These were then mounted onto a strip of blue coredinations and mounted across the centre of the card.
4.  I stamped the sentiment and added some little silver metal brads as the finishing touch.

I was really pleased with how it came out.  A fun card that could be changed in look by just using different colours of distress ink and card.

Thanks for popping by and hope you all have a good day.  Hope to see you again soon.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Dies and Punches at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges

Hi Everyone
It's Wednesday and time for a new challenge over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges.  Our theme for this week is:
Dies and/or Punches
I know how you all love your punches and dies so expecting a good turnout for this challenge.

We have two sponsors this week for you:
Crafty Sentiments - prize of 3 digi images of the winners choice
The Paper Shelter - prize of a $20 gift certificate

I was lucky enough to be able to use an image from Crafty Sentiments for my inspiration project.

Isn't this teddy just so cute, peeking out from behind that present.  I coloured him with promarkers and used my blending pen to try and add some texture to his fur.  I then used one of my Marianne Creatable dies to cut him out.  A touch of distress ink was added around the image before removing from the die.  For my matting I used light green coredinations.  The paper is a really old one from Papermania.  I added the green ribbon and bow in a criss cross pattern over the card.  Thought it mirrored the large present in the image.  Some little green stars and punched out corners finished the card.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your entries.  Just pop over to Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges to upload your entries.  The design team have produced some wonderful creations for your inspiration too.

Seeing Double

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  We have seen lots of sun here the last couple of days.  Let's hope it lasts for the Bank Holiday weekend we have coming up.  Would be nice to be able to be outside for a while and maybe enjoy a beer in a local beer garden.

Just popping by to share with you a birthday card that I made at the weekend.  It was a friend's birthday and he is not into fussy and fancy so this is what I came up with.

I found some embossed card in my stash that I have had a couple of years.  It has a nice pearlescent sheen to it so this formed the base of my card.  I added a strip of cream card across the centre and masked the join with some ribbon.  The letters were also in my stash - again a couple of years old.  For embellishments I added some metal corners, cogs and some card candi.

This was so quick and easy to do that I decided to do another one in a different colour.

Here they are both together.

Thanks for popping by.  Just want to say welcome to my new followers.  Glad to have you on board and hope you like what you see.

A Baby Is Born

Hi Folks
Well, the weekend is over and it's back to work today.  I find Mondays are such hard work to get through.  Oh to be a lady of leisure.

A Baby Is Born
So show us your new baby creations for a chance to win a prize of 7 digi images from our sponsor Bugaboo Stamps.

I used this super cute image called Baby Teddy from Bugaboo for my creation.  It was so easy to colour using my promarkers.  I have used kraft card for all the matting and the papers were in my scraps box.  Ribbon was added across the centre together with a little double bow.  The line of hearts is also some ribbon that I had in my ribbon drawer.  The tiny flowers have been in my embellishment box for many months.  I added some gems to them and a sparkly dazzler to the bow.

Thanks for popping by.  To enter the challenge just pop over to The Crafting Cafe.  The design team regularly post inspiration throughout the month.

It's all about the background at Hobbycutz Challenges

Hi Folks
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.  We had a good time last night celebrating a friend's birthday.  Lots of good food and the wine and beer were flowing.  Didn't get to bed till quite late but still up with the birds this morning.  I just can't lie in, even when I want to.

Today sees the start of a new challenge over at Hobbycutz Challenges.  Our theme for this fortnight is:
Create your own background

Our fab sponsor for this challenge is Crafts and Me.  The design team were generously given some images to work with and here is my inspiration project.

The image was coloured in using promarkers and I added some glamour dust for her wings.  This was ten matted onto black and red cardstock.
For the background I cut a piece of white cardstock and attacked it with my distress inkS.  I used Fired Brick, Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed.  After inking I spritzed with water to give a mottled effect.  The flourish is a stamp set from Inkadinkado and was stamped with Fired Brick distress ink.  I mounted this onto black and red card.  For embellishments I used some tulle, a hand made flower and some sparkly gems from Hobby House.  The little words are from a Woodware stamp set - Useful creative words.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your creations.  Just pop over to the Hobbycutz Challenge blog to upload your entries.  You can also check out the awesome creations from the design team.  Don't forget that if you use any Hobbycutz products you will be entered into a seperate draw to win a gift voucher from Hobbycutz.

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well and looking forward to your weekend.  We are off out to some friends this evening for a birthday celebration.  Hopefully the weather will behave and we will be able to go out in the garden.  Gonna be busy in my crafty room before then though as have a few cards to make this weekend.  The housework will just have to wait lol.

Today sees the start of a new challenge over at A Gem of a Challenge.  Our theme this week has been chosen by the lovely Wendy and is
Punch it Out
Just use punches/dies on your project.  A nice easy one for you.

The prize as usual is:

(no sets, personalised watermarks or sentiment sets)
of the winners choice from Pink Gem Designs

I made another christmas card to add to my box using this super image Andy with Snowman available here.  I simply coloured him with promarkers and cut him out using one of my dies.  I inked around the edges with some distress ink before removing from the die.  The papers are also from Pink Gem Designs.  It is a collection called Merry and Bright and can be found here.  For the edge strip I used one of my punches to punch either side of a strip of the patterned paper and then added some christmas ribbon down the centre.  The snowflakes are a punch that I have.
This card will be just perfect for one of my nephews for christmas.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your creations.  Just pop over to A Gem of a Challenge to upload your entry and see more fab inspiration from the design team.

Wedding Card and Gift

Hi Folks
Bit late posting tonight but been a busy day.  After work I went with hubby to get him some new shirts and trousers.  We then went through his wardrobe getting rid of all the stuff he has been hoarding - just in case it came back into fashion lol.  Anyway, an hour later and three big bags full we were finished.  So no crafting done tonight but a bit of tidying and throwing away instead.

As some of you will have read on my blog we went to a lovely wedding last weekend.  I was involved in making some of the wedding stationery.  More of that on a future post.  Today I would like to share the card and keepsake gift that I made for the happy couple.
The wedding was beautiful with a theme involving lots of flowers and birdcages.  Our wedding card to them mirrored the overall theme.  Apologies but there are a few pictures.

I used my Marianne Creatables birdcage die to make a feature in the corner.  I shaped the die before attaching it to the cardstock so it stood off the card.  I was then able to add lots of flowers cascading from the birdcage.  In the opposite corner I used another ivy die that I have and added more flowers and a little heart charm.  The sentiment was printed on the computer and the little doves are from a stamp that I have. I added some pink organza ribbon and a bow at the bottom.  I added some distress ink around the edges of the card to create a vintage feel.

I then decided to have a play with my birdcage die and made this little keepsake for them.  I got the idea for this after seeing this video on You Tube.

As you can see I cut four of the birdcages and attached them together to create a 3d birdcage.  I added some flowers to the inside of the birdcage and added a metal birdcage charm too.  Around the base of the birdcage I added some ribbon and lace.  I made some legs out of card so it stood nicely and added some gems and punched butterflies.

Here is another photo showing a different angle.

I then made a display box to put it in.  The box has acetate panels on all four sides.

A final picture showing both items together.

I was really pleased with the overall result and I am pleased to say that the bride and groom loved them.
Thanks for popping by and looking forward to hearing what you all think.

Mid Way Inspiration at Imagination Crafts

Hi Folks
Hope you are all having a good week.  Not long now till the weekend, yippee.

We are now halfway through August and it's time for a little mid way inspiration over at the Imagination Crafts Challenge Blog.  Our theme for this month is:
Flowers
Anyone can enter the challenge and the design team choose a Top 3 from all the entries.  If you use any Imagination Crafts products on your entry then you are eligible for the top prize of a £40 gift voucher for Imagination Crafts.
So come on, get those entries rolling in.  What could be easier than creating something with flowers.

Here is a little mid month inspiration for you.

When I have the time I do make some kumihimo jewellery.  I wanted a little gift box and card to give as a present.  So I came up with this little acetate box and gift card.

For the box
Stamped the small daisy stamp from the Decoupage Daisy stamp set several times onto acetate.  Coloured the flowers in pink with some silkies.  I then went over the flowers with some white shimmer detail sparkle to make them all sparkly.  Die cut a couple of swirls and attached them all to the lid of the box.  Around the edge of the box I added some organza ribbon, a rose and some gems.
For the card
Mounted a piece of embossed white card onto hot pink coordinations card.  Added some organza ribbon to the bottom along with another acetate flower.  Stamped a sentiment 'Just for You' and added to the top corner.  A few gems and the gift card was finished.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your entries.  For more inspiration and to upload your entries just pop by the Imagination Crafts Challenge Blog.

Hi Folks
Well, we are now halfway through the working week and it's time for a new challenge over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges.

Lace and/or ribbon

We have two great sponsors joining us this week:
Fred She Said - prize of a $15 gift voucher

I have used a gorgeous image from our sponsor Fred She Said for my inspiration project.

The image is called Dragonfly Flower Doodledalion Set and can be found here.  The images I used came ready coloured and you get lots of layers to enable you to build up a lovely decoupaged flower.  Although you can't see it very well this flower has about 6 layers to it.  I teamed the image up with some papers from First Edition (Daydream).  I used an EK punch I have to create the lacy trim at the top and bottom of the card.  Added some ribbon and a bow across the centre.  A little wooden button was added to the bowand some flowers finished off the card.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing all your entries.  Just pop over to Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges to upload your entry.  While there why not check out the rest of the design team work.  Some great inspiration there for you.

The Magic of Christmas

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  It was back to work today following my long weekend.  Oh to win the lottery and not have to go to work.  I could imagine myself as a lady of leisure lol.

I have created this card to enter the DT call over at Crafting Musketeers.  I love paper crafting and mainly stick to making cards although I have been known to have a go at 3d projects.  I have been crafting for about four years now and class myself as a versatile crafter.  I love stamping but also use digi images.  I like to think that I am organised and can work to deadlines.   Thank you for considering my application.

This is a simple christmas card using a new digi image from Pink Gem designs.

The image is called 'Believe in the Magic' and can be found here at Pink Gem Designs.  For a change I made and A6 size card rather than my usual square card.  I used the precoloured image which I matted onto red mirror card after adding some distress ink around the edges.  The background card is embossed with little snowflakes and again matted onto red mirror card.  I added a bit of distress ink to the edges and did some doodling.  The paper was from my christmas scraps box and I added three red stars as embellishments.
A simple card but will be just perfect for my nephews for christmas.

Thanks for popping by and for all the lovely comments you leave me.  It is much appreciated and I love reading every one of them.

Have a Hoot on your Birthday

Hi Folks
Hope you are all well.  We had a great time at a wedding yesterday.  The bride looked stunning and the weather was nice and sunny.  I will post some pics this week of the stationery items that I made for the happy couple.
But today is my youngest daughters 22nd birthday so I would like to show you the card I made for her.

My daughter loves owls so I knew I wanted to create something using an image of an owl.
For the image panel I created a little scene using several stamps that I have.  The owl, branch and sentiment are a Woodware set.  The little grasses at the bottom are Papermania Book Print Urban Stamps.  The tree branches and leaves are Paper Smooches Gently Seasoned stamp set.  I paperpieced the owl using Docrafts Tilly Daydream papers.  A length of ribbon was added to the bottom and the panel was matted onto brown pearlescent paper.
For the background of the card I used paper from the Lillibet range from Trimcraft.  Again, this was matted onto pearlescent paper.  I added two strips of ribbon and used my Craftwork Cards letter stamps to stamp onto card candi.  The large flower is from Craftwork Cards and I added the yellow flower for a centre.  Some gems to the top corner finished the card.

Thanks for popping by and would love to hear what you think.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

You're my Best Friend

Hi Folks
Yippee, it's the weekend and a nice three day one for me.  We are at a wedding tomorrow so got Monday off to recover and travel home.  It will be really nice spending a night away in a hotel.  Just hope the bed is comfy although if the alcohol is flowing I probably won't need much rocking to sleep lol.  Hoping to get some crafting done today.  It is my youngest daughter's 22nd birthday on Monday and not even made her cards yet!!!

Todays card share is one that my daughter asked me to make for her best friend's birthday today.

I used papers and images from the Lillibet range from Trimcraft.  I just love these little toppers, so cute.  I used kraft card for the base layers.  The Happy Birthday is a stamp set that I have had for about three years.  I stamped the large letters onto contrasting paper and cut them out.  The rest of the words were just stamped straight onto the base card.  The butterflies are all made out of parchment by my very talented Mummy.  For embellishments I used ribbon, lace, metal corners, gems and pearls and a couple of little quilled flowers.

My daughter did say to me 'Why has it got images of babies on it?'  I then had to point out that although her friend is 22 the images are not bAbies but represent them as best friends - playing together and doing each others hair.  Not sure she was convinced but seemed happy enough with the card lol.

Thanks for popping by and hope you pop back soon.  Thank you for all the lovely comments you leave me.  I really appreciate them and read every single one.

I would like to enter the following challenges:
One Crazy Stamper - Birthdays
Cards Galore - Bingo (birthday, gems, sentiment)

Motorbike Mania

Hi Folks
Hope you are all having a good week whatever you are up to.  Only one more day till the weekend, thank goodness.  I also have Monday off as we are off to a wedding reception on Sunday evening.  This is the wedding that I have done some of the stationery for so I can finally show you what I have been working on next week.

Anyway, I managed to creep up to my crafty hovel tonight and put together this little number.

The topper is a Kenny K image and I purchased this from The Hobby House.  I simply added a touch of red distress ink to the edges and mounted onto red card.  For the background I used my special touch of Mica mask on pearlescent paper.  I thought the pearlescent paper worked really well as I didn't want anything as shiny as mirror card.  This was then mounted onto black card.  Some twine was wrapped around the card and a button added.  The sentiment, card candy and cycle helmet and gloves were from my long neglected stash (must have had the helmet and gloves for at least a year).

So there you have it, a quick and simple birthday card that is sure to please any young boy.  Thanks for popping by and hope you will pop back soon.  Thank you so much for all the lovely comments that you leave.  I really do appreciate it and look forward to reading every single one.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

Dry Embossing at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges

Hi Folks
Hope you are well and getting through your week.  Not sure what the weather is going to be like today.  I am writing this before I go to work and it is really foggy outside.  Maybe the sun will come out to play and burn it off.

Today sees the start of a new challenge over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges.  Our theme for this week is:
Dry Embossing

We have two great sponsors again this week:
Just pop over to Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges for full challenge details and to upload your super creations.

I was able to use an image from our sponsor Bugaboo and created this little gift bag.  I took a couple of my embossing folders and created some little squares out of coredinations which I sanded.  The Happy Birthday is another little embossing folder that I have.  I then mounted the squares onto a piece of mirror card and then onto the gift bag.  The image was coloured with promarkers and made a little tag for the gift bag.  The shopaholic sentiment is also from Bugaboo.  I added a paper flower I made and some pearls around the Happy Birthday.
Really like the patchwork effect and really quick and easy to do.  Why not have a go and enter the challenge.  Looking forward to seeing your creations.  For more inspiration just pop by Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges as the design team have been busy.

Hobbycutz Challenges

Morning Folks
Hope you are all well on this Sunday morning.  It looks like it's going to be another nice day here again so going to try and make the most of it.  Don't know how long this lovely weather will last lol.

Today sees the start of a new challenge over at Hobbycutz Challenges.  Our theme for this fortnight is:
A Card for a Child

Our sponsor for this challenge is the wonderful Floppy Latte and the design team were generously given some images and papers to use.  I chose the super little image called Greta Golfer and here is what I came up with.

I went for a soft pastelly colour palette for this one.  The image was coloured with promarkers and liquid pearls added around the image.  The papers are from the Tilly Daydream collection from Docrafts.  The butterfly is from Hobbycutz and I added some liquid pearls to it.  Added some little punched corners and gems to finish the card.

Thanks for popping by and looking forward to seeing your entries.  Just pop over to Hobbycutz Challenges to upload your entry.  Don't forget that there is an additional prize available for anyone who uses an Hobbycutz product.  The design team have produced some lovely cards so why not take a look.

Going to the Chapel

Evening Folks,
Here again with another late post but busy, busy, busy again today.  It has also been a hot day here as well.  Hubby and the daughters have all gone out so got a peaceful night.

A friend of my daughters asked me if I could make her a wedding card for some friends of hers.  I don't very often make wedding cards so was happy to oblige.  Here is what I came up with.

Excuse the quality of the photo.  Wasn't easy today getting a good photo particularly as the card is very white.
I used my Spellbinders doily die to cut out the centre panel which was then mounted onto some foiled acetate with a rose design on it.  I embossed some white card with my dotty embossing folder and added this to the four corners creating a panel around the die cut out.  This was all then matted onto silver card.  I used another die to cut out the four silver corners.  Around the aperture I created I added some daisy ribbon.  I made the large flower at the bottom and added this on some feathers.  Some little flowers, gems and punched out butterflies finished the card.

Thanks for popping by and would love to hear what you think.  Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend and hope you pop by again soon.

Relax, it's your Birthday

Hi Folks
I am a bit late posting tonight so will keep it short and sweet.
I have been having a play with some of my Imagination Crafts products and came up with this little number.

Products used
Imagination Crafts Sparkle Medium in Antique Bronze, Hunter Green and Sage Green
Acetate      Coredinations cardstock      White card
large dotty embossing folder      blue ribbon      buttons
metal corners      sentiments       distress ink - chipped sapphire and faded jeans

How I did it
1.  Used sparkle medium and the garden chair stencil on acetate.
2.  When dry mounted the acetate onto secret garden patterned card and then onto coredinations
3. Added a lovely metal corner to all four corners.
4. Embossed a large piece of white card and mounted onto coredinations after distressing round the edges wth distress ink.
5.  Added some ribbon and a bow to the side and embellished with some buttons.
6.  Added two sentiments.

Thanks for popping by and would love to know what you think.  The sparkle medium looks so sparkly on the acetate.
